[Wild Encounters] Kailon in Route 2

[Kailon]

Kailon, with a sigh, decides to cut through the grass. 30 minutes of figting Pokemon sounds better than an extra four hours of jogging/walking. He releases both his Pokemon, when something behind them rustles through the plant matter...

[Nicola]

Suddenly out of the foliage jumps... a trainer! She's average height and has features resembling those of a Glameow. As she brushes her dark hair out of her face, her Bulbasaur [Male, Level 10] climbs out of the grass behind her and shakes itself off. The girl smiles up at you.

"I thought I heard someone coming through the grass over here," she asserts, nodding as if confirming her own thoughts to herself. "The name's Rowena, and my dream is to become the best Pokemon coordinator in all of Kanto! Anyways, I've been trying to get to Viridian Forest, but the Pokemon keep getting me beat and I have to go back to the Pokemon Center every time! So I'm thinking that tackling this route's more of a team thing. Care to let me join you?"

"Bulba bulba!" her Pokemon chimes.

[Kailon]

Kailon shrugs, "I dunno... I was just planning on burning myself through with my Vul- Vulpix?" He stops, looking for his Vulpix, before spotting her behind Bulbasaur, her mouth open and about to let out a fireball.

[Nicola]

The girl notices the ball of fire forming in the Vulpix's mouth and immediately scoops her Bulbasaur into her arms.

"This is not a Wild Pokemon," Rowena tells the fiery fox Pokemon. "I will not have you attacking it unless we are in a battle, okay?"

Without waiting to see whether or not the Vulpix understands her statement, she looks back up at Kailon.

"So is that a yes, or a no?" she asks bluntly.

[Kailon]

He thinks, "I was more or less just planning on sprinting on through it... But..." He pauses, looking at the Bulbasaur (among other things  :D), "A battle could easily prove if you could keep up. If you beat me, you can come. Agreed?"

[Nicola]

"All right, then," Rowena replied, nodding. "I suppose a battle would be fair, though the type disadvantage might not go so well for me."

She set her Bulbasaur on the ground and straightened back up, her eyes flashing as she recited the terms of the battle.

"So your Vulpix against my Bulbasaur, no substitutions or use of items, and the prize for winning being the determining factor of whether or not I travel with you."

Seeming satisfied with the rules, she nodded to herself again, then looked at her Bulbasaur in determination.

"All right, Bulbasaur [Male, Level 10]! Let's do this like we practiced! Give me your prettiest Leech Seed attack!"

"Bulba, bulba!" the Pokemon responded, acknowledging that it had understood the command and was ready to fight.

[Kailon]

Kailon nodded happily, calling his Vulpix over quickly. "Okay, those sound fair Let's start!"

He reaches down, petting his Vulpix for a moment, "Vulpix! Use Ember to burn away that plant!" He shouts, pointing at Bulbasaur.

[Nicola]

Vulpix, grinning, hops into a battling stance, ready to fight. Rowena's Bulbasaur, however, is the first to move, shooting a couple of seeds out of the green bulb on its back in an extravagant show accompanied by small puffs of pollen, the obvious flamboyant touches of a Pokemon coordinator. The leech seeds fly through the air and land on Vulpix, worming their roots smoothly into her fur. The fire Pokemon winces slightly as they pierce her skin, but keeps her wits about her. Opening her jaws wide as she had done a few minutes before, the golden fox fires embers from her mouth towards the Bulbasaur, which hit, causing considerable damage. Small particles of light move up the stems of the plants embedded in Vulpix's shining fur, floating towards Bulbasaur and replenishing some of its health.

Vulpix: 90% [Seeded]
Bulbasaur: 80%

"Good job, Bulbasaur!" Rowena exclaims encouragingly. "Now go in for a Tackle attack!"

[Kailon]

"Good job Vulpix!" Kailon shouted, having been able to tell that the Bulbasaur was obviously hurt by the Ember. "Vulpix, dodge the tackle and use Ember again!"

[Nicola]

Vulpix stood her ground in wait of her opponent, who came running at her for a Tackle. As the squat dinosaur neared her, looking as if he was about to rush in for the attack, Vulpix dodged to her right, but unfortunately for her, Bulbasaur had been attempting to fake out his opponent. Just as she turned right, Bulbasaur turned sharply in the same direction and sprang forward, smashing into his opponent for a dire hit. Vulpix turned her head around, attempting to fire an Ember to recover her lost dignity, but the small bit of fire simply blazed over the Bulbasaur's head and hardly caused the leafy green Pokemon any damage at all. Vulpix winced as more of her energy flowed up through the sprouts implanted in her and floated to Bulbasaur, who looked relieved to recover some of his health.

Vulpix: 60% [Seeded]
Bulbasaur: 85%

"All right, that's my Bulbasaur!" Rowena cheered. "Now for your gorgeous Vine Whip!"

[Kailon]

"Vulpix!" Kailon exclaimed, worried for his Vulpix. "Vulpix, you can do it! Another Ember! Burn away the vines! BURN!" he shrieked, quite worried for his cute widdle Vulpix.

[Jimmy]

Trying to will her way back into the battle Vulpix let out a nice Ember from her mouth, scroutching the vines from Bulbasaur's Vine Whip as well as causing a little damage to Bulbasaur. Since fire has a type advantage over grass, the attack was still Super Effective. The Leech seeds from the previous attack dug into Vulpix's skin and, unfortunately took away some of the Pokemon's health. Fortunately for Bulbasaur though, his health was regained by the seeds. " Bulbasaur, Tackle it this time! And watch out for Ember, I don't want to getting hurt. Remember our contest moves," Rowena commanded her Pokemon.

Vulpix: 49% [Seeded]
Bulbasaur:63%

[Kailon]

"Vulpix, jump out of the way of the tackle and use another Ember! Burn that Pokemon away!" He shouted, fearing now for his golden Vulpix as she was taking quite a beating from the Bulbasaur.

[OOC: Would Roar have any effect on the Bulbasaur?"]

[Jimmy]

Bulbasaur, seeing how well he was trained in the art of contests, gracefully ran over to Vulpix and attempted to Tackle it. It was time for Vulpix to start getting back in the battle. Vulpix, adding her own little touch to the battle, gracefully jumped over Bulbasaur to dodge the Tackle. She impressed Rowena, as she shouted out, " That was beautiful!" This was until Vulpix opened her mouth and let out a small touch of fire know as Ember, scrouching the little grass type bulb. Bulbasaur still fought through it, though. He was healed slightly by the seeds that were still piercing into Vulpix's skin. " No! No no no! I refuse to have to go through this by myself!" Rowena shouted, seeming as though she was about to cry, " Come on Bulbasaur, you can do it! Dodge and Tackle!"

Vulpix: 37% [Seeded]
Bulbasaur: 25%

[Kailon]

Kailon grins, watching his tiny Vulpix dive around the arena and finally letting out a powerful Ember, "Come on Vulpix! One more Ember and he's done!" Kailon shouted, crossing his fingers tightly hoping that his Vulpix would avoid any more harm.
