Shadows crept around the house
A cats eyes glittered in the darkness
The wind howled as it rocked the trees
This was the night of Hallows Eve
The house lay in an old suburb of the town
Shrouded with an aura of mystery
The old people whispered:
Don't go near that old house
Those who enter never come out
The young ones didn't listen
They laughed in the old ones faces
There is no such thing as a haunted house
They laughed innocently
And so, on the night of Hallows Eve
The children entered the house
With every step they took up that cracked path
Their confidence slowly disappeared
The house did look... Scary from this angle
Had the trees really looked like some strange monster
Arms ready to reach out and grab them?
They were sure that the houses windows
Had not been like shattered eyes, watching
And what was that red substance covering the door?
They could have sworn it had been painted
Two of them stepped backwards
Do we really want to enter this house?
They asked the others, fear in their eyes
Another agreed with them
Maybe the old ones were right
This place is frightful
The leader of the group scoffed
That's just an old wives tale
He told them
Made just to scare us
The others shook their heads
Turned and left
Without everyone else with him
Suddenly everything seemed a lot darker
More mysterious and scary
But he wasn't going back
He was the bravest and was right
About the old ones wanting to scare them
He marched up to the door fearlessly
And knocked on the tarnished door knocker
The door opened by itself creaking as it did
In the boy marched and the door closed behind him
To this day, that boy has never been seen
His disappearance just hammers in the tale
That the old ones told everyone
But strangely, on the night of Hallows Eve
A voice whispers in the wind
From the house itself
Do not come here, lest you well meet my fate
