[Continued From Wild Encounters....]
Ivan was looking in Mary's general direction, but he wasn't looking at her; he was looking past her, over her shoulder. Ivan completely froze when he saw a somewhat familiar site: a Mismagius. He had encountered the ghastly pokemon previously, but this one was different somehow- it was a bright golden hue, rather than a standard purple. Mary's eyes widened when she realzied that her temporary partner was looking past her. She turned out slowly and cautiously; she could only give a frightened gasp when she saw the floating ghost behind her. As soon as she made eye contact with the golden ghost, the Mismagius' eyes started glowing eerily. Ivan and Mary were starting to feel drowsy. Ivan could only watch Mary fall to the ground in a slump when he succumbed to the sleepiness himself.
A little while later, Ivan awoke to a strange site. He slowly opened his eyes and looked around to see a small band of gypsies looking over him. When he tried getting up, one of the gypsies calmly placed her hand on Ivan's head and gently pressed down, requesting that he lay there a little while longer and continue to rest. She then left Ivan's side and got her father, the head of the traveling family. "I'm so glad that you're alright," the head of the gypsy family started. "We were passing through this area and saw you laying on the ground with a golden Mismagius hovering over you. We were able to ward off the evil entity using a special Cleanse Tag that we had created. It seems that you have somehow come across a strange being indeed. Unfortunately, that haunting pokemon has a tragic origin." "It all started about 30 years ago. There was a very skilled, yet cruel pokemon trainer that lived in this area. He was quite possibly the greatest pokemon trainer in the Johto region at the time.... and a better ghost trainer than Morty, the ghost specialist in Ecuteak City, is now. This cruel trainer was known far and wide for several reasons: 1) his cruelty to his pokemon, 2) his unmatched skill when dealing with pokemon, especially the ghost type, and 3) his two pokemon training daughters. The older one was skilled in using both the fire and ghost types. She was very skilled, but she often took after her father in the fact that she could be a little cruel to other trainers; she was also said to be a little forgetful and often lost her prized pokemon. The younger one seemed to be the complete opposite end of the emotional spectrum as her father. She seemed to dislike ghost pokemon completely, prefering fire pokemon, instead. She was also said to be curious about the world, generally good to her pokemon, and showed kindness to others. "The father was cruel to his pokemon, yet cared for his two daughters- too caring, some may say. He was the cliche overbearing, overprotective father that did not want to let his daughters pursue their dreams of becoming world famous pokemon masters. In a fit of rage, he closed off his house and maniacly set fire to the house, killing himself along with his two girls in the process. Since that day, 30 years ago, strange sightings have been made in this area. First of all, the cruel trainer's prized Mismagius has been seen, although a strange golden version has also been seen around. Rumors have it that the golden pokemon is this particular trainer's reincarnation. Meanwhile, people have also reported seeing the trainers' two daughters in the area with their signature pokemon: a Ponyta and a Vulpix." The last statement hit Ivan like a sack of bricks. Could it be that the young trainer that he had been teaming up with was nothing more than a ghost or a figment of his imagination? Could the girl that he met up with in his previous visit to Route 30 been an apparition, as well? Against the gypsies' advise, Ivan got up and started walking slowly and thoughtfully north again. He could only slip into a little depressive state at this point. He had finally met a trainer in this region that wasn't completely either insane or completely neurotic- even she turned out to be abnormal, since she had been dead for 30 years! A couple of tears rolled down Ivan's cheeks- he was alone again, separated cruelly from someone that he was growing to care deeply about.....
