Ivan vs Tucker (Team Shade)

Ivan crept along with a watchful eye on the mysterious stranger.  He was appalled that anybody could deliberately be so destructive to an unknowing, defenseless town.  Ivan decided to take action and take out this villainous trainer with a pokemon battle.  Ivan wasn't sure exactly how strong these pokemon were, but wasn't willing to take any chances.  He felt like a sneak attack would be the best way to go.

"Anubis," Ivan whispered to his faithful companion, "let's bum-rush that Sandshrew of his with an EMBER to his back.  Let's take out these pokemon before any of these townsfolk get needlessly hurt."

Anubis seemed to nod its head in agreement and crept out, using the darkness as cover.  Once it was within striking distance, it darted out towards the backs of the trainer and his Sandshrew and prepared an EMBER to shoot out of its flaming jowls to spit at the unsuspecting pokemon.

Tucker, his back turned to the tunnel of fire headed towards Sandshrew, darted to the left as quickly as if he saw the attack coming, Sandshrew following.
"Ahahaha," Tucker laughed coldly. "You'll have to do better than that to get us. You call it a sneak attack? Don't raise your voice so much, idiot." Tucker gave another, high-pitched chuckle. "But first - don't try to fight me, or I'll raise this city to the ground. Of course, I will even if you do fight me, ahahaha. Go on, if you win, I'll leave this city alone. But, if you lose, you gotta leave the city and not come back for the duration of this invasion. Deal?" Tucker's mouth smiled lopsidedly.</sup>

   "There goes that advantage," thought Ivan to himself.  "ANUBIS!  STOP!" Ivan yelled to his faithful companion.  "Spit out that EMBER, straight up in the air!"  Anubis halted its charge and gave a piercing look back at Ivan, wondering why it received such a strange order.  Anubis then reared it head back and spit a flaming EMBER high into the air.  The small flaring ball flew up it to the air, out of sight.... to return back to Earth soon enough, however.

   Ivan walked over to Anubis and gave a cold, unnerve glare towards the cocky member of Team Shade.  He listened to the arrogance in the evil-doer's voice and couldn't believe what he was hearing.  Ivan decided that this madman had to be stopped.... AT ANY COST; the only person that was around to take care of that sinister trainer was himself.  Ivan had to succeed, or else Cherrygrove City would be no more. 

  "I accept your terms," said Ivan, growling as he said it.  He didn't see any other way around it.  He needed to defeat this mysterious trainer and save the town.  Failure was not an option for Ivan.  Ivan was tired of the horrible no-goodnik standing across from him, razing a city in the dead of night and then trying to make pitiful attempts at compromise when a challenger stepped forward.  "Let's do this!" Ivan yelled.  Ivan glanced skyward for a brief moment, took a step backwards, and grinned as a small ball of fire made its return from the atmosphere.  The small ball of char fell with great velocity until it almost reached the ground; it was stopped by the back-side of Anubis.  Anubis' ears shot back in surprise, with its black coat of fur standing up on end as the seering fireball scorched his flesh.  Anubis' eyes glowed with a new fury, as the fiery ember was absorbed into the Houndour's body.
 
  With the challenge being officially made and Anubis charged with a Charcoal aided Flash Fire, Ivan was ready to make his first move against the member of Team Shade and his evil-doing pokemon.

   "Anubis,"  Yelled Ivan, "Let's take care of this evil-doer.  WE CAN NOT FAIL!!!"

  Ivan grew impatient with Tucker's babbling.  He began looking around, trying to find something in the environment to use to his advantage; there were woods to both the north and east of town, as well as a drop-off into a large lake to the west.  Ivan was busy plotting several different tactics when a thought crossed his mind.  He called for Dodger, his Sentret with the permanently deformed tail (thanks to a careless battler) over to him.  "Come on, Dodger.  We're all in this thing together!  If we battle, all three of us shall take out this invader... as a team.  We simply cannot fail!"

  Ivan knew that it was probably foolish to try to battle with both of his only pokemon at the same time, but he had no choice.  Ivan didn't have any training for a traditional battle setting, so the more unorthodox his tactics became, the better.  In fact, Ivan thought the unorthodoxy and random strategies using the environment were the only way to defeat this loud-mouthed hooligan.  Ivan, his fire-raged Houndour, and the broken-tailed Sentret prepared for the battle of their lives.   

[Tucker]

Tucker had a feeling of what Ivan was going to do, so he got his Sandshrew by his side.
"Come on, Dodger.  We're all in this thing together!  If we battle, all three of us shall take out this invader... as a team.  We simply cannot fail!" Ivan said to his pokemon. Tucker overheard this small speech and said to Ivan,
"Foolish person. If you want it that way, so be it! You will not win against my pokemon, they can defeat your weaklings without any work at all." He gave a sinister chuckle.
"Get ready Sandshrew. Don't fail me, or else."

Ivan was used to battling with unorthodox methods, but the sinister brute had him flabbergasted.  Why leave his Sandshrew open for a 2 on 1 blitz?  Ivan had defeated a Sandshrew before without too much difficulty... and that was even with one pokemon and zero experience.  Ivan thought about it for a second, but decided that he needed to go all out on this one.  He looked around, noticing that the other two pokemon were not in any danger of joining unexpectedly and gave his orders.

  "Let's go, guys!  Anubis, spook that Sandshrew with a LEER.  After that, use a QUICK ATTACK, Dodger!  Let's use a hit and run technique!"  Ivan had hoped that by keeping some distance between the Sandshrew and his pokemon, he would gain an advantage.

[Tucker]

Now that the battle had started, Tucker just had to order Sandshrew to use a move.
"Ok Sandshrew, wait untill one of them gets real close to you and give 'em a large dose of your POISON STING!"

[Nicola]

Anubis sprang into action first, glaring daggers at the Sandshrew and emitting a menacing growl in its LEER attack, which made the desert Pokemon a little nervous. Sandshrew was just thinking about how scary the Houndour was when it found itself being knocked onto its side. Dodger had taken the initiative of using its QUICK ATTACK while Sandshrew was distracted. Sandshrew, enraged at the sneak attack, fired a POISON STING at the fleeing Sentret, catching it in the back with its poisonous barbs. Dodger started to feel a little queasy as the poison of the attack settled in.

Anubis: 100%
Dodger: 90% (Poisoned)

Sandshrew: 80% (Defense -1)

(OOC: Sorry to bother, Nicola, but could you change one thing?  Leer affects Defense, not Attack.  Not a huge difference, but a difference nonetheless.)


  Ivan couldn't believe his bad luck thus far.  That Sandshrew used one attack and already poisoned his pokemon.  Ivan cursed his luck, but as calmly as he could muster, continued the assault.

"Anubis!  Keep you distance and use a Charcoal-aided EMBER and keep your distance from that Sandshrew.  Don't let it sting you!"

"Dodger!  Come here and take this!"  Reaching in his bag, Ivan took out a Pecha Berry and gave it to Dodger.  Ivan knew that he needed both pokemon to be healthy in order to have ANY CHANCE of winning this battle.  "Eat this; it'll make you feel better!"  Ivan looked around for something else to use... and saw a small uprooted, dried out bush.  A sinister plan started hatching in Ivan's head, hoping that it would work.  "Dodger, grab that bush and head back towards the battle!"

(I am assuming that we're going with standard battle rules; using an item negates a turn, correct?)

[Tucker]

"Ok Sandshrew. This time run over to that tree and wait unill the last moment, and dodge any attack on your way!"
Tucker had a plan that could do some damage. But he wasn't gonna just say it in battle with another person.

[Nicola]

Anubis, with extra fire power from both its Charcoal and the Ember it had hit itself with earlier, prepared its fiery attack as Sandshrew began to dash over to the tree which Tucker had directed it to. Dodger, meanwhile, stayed by Ivan's side and nibbled on its Pecha Berry, immediately feeling refreshed and alleviated of the poison. Anubis, ready to attack now, fired off a mean Ember directly at Sandshrew. The tan mouse Pokemon remembered its order to dodge and attempted to jump over the massive pillar of fire streaming from the Houndour's mouth, but was unable to jump quite as high as was necessary to completely avoid the flames. Thus, the Team Shade Pokemon merited some damage and a pair of burned feet, which slowed its race to the tree because of the searing pain. Dodger, finished with its berry now, skipped over to the uprooted bush and picked it up, then hopping back over to the battlefield.

Anubis: 100%
Dodger: 90%

Sandshrew: 65% (Defense -1) (Burned)

Tucker shouted at the Houndour. "ARGHHH!!! You think you can get away with that, do you?! Sandshrew, use POISON STING full power at that foolish fire pokemon!"
