Derp has lived her entire life with her family in the Hoenn region. She and her fraternal twin, Herp, are two of six children, and have always had to take care of their younger siblings while their parents were busy, Derp generally doing the physical work and Herp doing all of the supervising. The two of them practically raised their younger siblings: Steve, Greg, and Cat. Their older brother, Dunno, might have helped raise the three smaller kids had he not run away from home a few years ago to find some way to legally change his name. Chances are that he's succeeded by now, but even so, Derp is certain that she will always know him by the name of Dunno.

Derp thoroughly enjoys helping her sister and has learned a lot about cooking, cleaning, and childcare all from assisting her sister in her chores! With a popular Coordinator for a mother and a successful Musician for a father, Derp has grown up a member of a rather wealthy household. Now that she and Herp are old enough, their parents plan to send them on a Pokemon journey. The family is going on vacation to some islands nearby Kanto, so on the way their parents want to surprise Herp and Derp with their first Pokemon and drop them off in Pallet Town.
