Prize Stand

Redeem your tickets for wonderful prizes here! We have a wonderful assortment of prizes, which is sure to expand marvelously as the Carnival goes on! I would save up my Tickets if I were you; we’re going to have some extremely valuable items later on in the Carnival, and with high value comes high prices! Wahaha! We ought to have everything in stock by June 16. You enjoy yourself, now.

Mysterious Voucher
[1 per customer]
Cost: 0 Tickets
Nobody really knows what the Mysterious Voucher is for, besides, of course, Carnival Master Nostalagi. But if they’re giving it away for free, you might as well take it.

Fresh Water
Cost: 10 Tickets
Fresh Water will restore your Pokemon’s health. It also does for a refreshing drink in a pinch.

Lemonade
Cost: 15 Tickets
Lemonade is also a particularly tasty drink and will restore even more health to your Pokemon than Fresh Water does.

Rare Candy
Cost: 20 Tickets
Rare Candies raise the level of a Pokemon by one. Naturally, what Carnival would be complete without candy?

Shell Bell
Cost: 75 Tickets
The Shell Bell restores HP to your Pokemon each time they inflict damage to their opponent in battle. This would be a great item to have on one’s journey.

Leaf Blade (TM)
Cost: 90 Tickets
With the move Leaf Blade, the user handles a sharp leaf like a sword and attacks by cutting its target. Critical hits land more easily. This must be a really rare item, I didn’t think a TM for this even existed!

Rose Incense
Cost: 100 Tickets
The Rose Incense boosts the power of Grass-type moves. There are plenty of Grass-type Pokemon around, aren’t there? This might come in handy.

Miracle Seed
Cost: 100 Tickets
The Miracle Seed boosts the power of Grass-type moves. That’s funny, isn’t there already an item in stock that boosts the power of Grass-type moves? Maybe the people who run the Carnival really want you to buy something that would benefit a Grass-type Pokemon. Just maybe. Both items do the same thing, though, so I’m sure just one will do.

Nicola passed by the Prize Stand, realizing that although she'd earned a bunch of Tickets, she really hadn't looked at buying anything yet. Peering at the goods for sale, the scientist frowned. The guy behind the counter, a teenager with spiky black hair who was scrutinizing Nicola as she browsed the items there, looked nice enough, but seemed like he would likely be one of those people prone to sarcasm and snide comments. He raised an eyebrow at her.

"Are you planning on buying anything, or just looking?"

"I don't know," she responded uncertainly. "Is this all that you have in stock? Water, candy, and odd slips of paper?"

"Right now, it is. We're going to get more stuff in as the Carnival goes on. If you get the Mysterious Voucher, or the 'odd slip of paper', as you so blatantly called it, you can redeem it for something later on in the Carnival. Beats me what it is, Nostalagi is pretty darn protective of her secrets, but if she's giving it out for free, I guess you might as well take it."

"All right, then," Nicola agreed. "Could I have a Mysterious Voucher, please?"

"Sure, take it. Just don't ask so many questions next time, kay?" the attendee gave Nicola a dirty grin, whilst offering a voucher. She recieved it; disgustedly.

*****

As Joshua skipped through the carnival, he spied a stall he'd not yet become acquainted with. A rather empty looking stall; if you'd call it that. More like a shackety table, displaying bottles of water, candy, and peculiar tickets that looked nothing like the sorts he'd recently been winning. The man running the stall was a rubbery faced man, with dirty black hair and puckered lips. He sneered at Joshua.

"Just standing around... waiting for you to buy something... I love it!"

"Buy? With what?" Joshua raised an eyebrow, a quizzacal expression flooding his face. "I thought everything at this carnival was free?"

"With tickets, ya dumbass!" the man roared back.

Joshua took a few paces back. "Why would I want to buy slips of paper, cheap candy and lousy water anyway?!" he cried, insulted. The attendee smacked his forehead.

"These vouchers are free... part of carnival master Nostalgi's big plan, or some secretive crap... and besides, some science chick came waltzing along and asked the exact same question! There should be a sign up, read it! God, why I am stuck with the newbies?!"

Joshua instantly thought back to Nicola, but shook her off his mind. "Guess I'll take the voucher, then..?"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, here ya go, just take it."

Joshua received the Mysterious Voucher, and the man crossed his arms again, grinning that odd, crooked grin once more.

The carnival was in town and was a smashing hit! For days the activities had been going strong. Violet walked around mainly to get a idea where everything was so she wouldn't have to stop every now and then to ask for directions. Maia was snuggling into her arms, half asleep, half awake. The two had taken a long bike ride just to get here. The Eevee was passed out for most, which meant soon Violet would have an energized baby in her hands at the carnival. Oh joy. One stand stood out the most to her while she was roaming around. The Prize Stand. So far on there was a few items that most travelers needed, except this mysterious voucher which was called... well the mysterious voucher. What was so strange about the ticket was that it was absolutely free! The man behind the stall looked quite dirty. As a person and as well with his hygiene.

"You buying something sweetheart? If not, scram! You're gonna scare away me customers." Violet watched as spittle shot from his mouth and over the counter. After taking a step back, she looked at him quizzically.
"What a strange little man you are. You first give me a pet name, but then tell me to scram and that I scare away your customers. Yet, I am not the one what is greasy OR looks like the back side of a Emboar." She smirked and watched his facial expressions.
"So unless you are going to chase me off with your dirty hands and attempt to outwit me. I would like a mysterious voucher please. And don't worry, I won't bother you with a question about what it is for, since it your facial expression currently looks like a Slowpoke could outsmart you." Stilling smirking, Violet held her hand out waiting for the voucher.

"Yeah whatever, sweetums, just take the thing," he muttered, slapping the voucher into Violet's hand with a scowl. "Now skedaddle."

Violet received the Mysterious Voucher!

"Oh! Cool! Prizes!" Quinn said, punching the air with glee. Of course, now that she thought about it, it made sense - what else was she supposed to do with her tickets? Ignoring the fact that prize-exchangeable tickets were extremely obvious and that she must have been incredibly dense not to notice the prize booth before, she approached the area and inspected the prizes. Naturally, there were drinks and candy. Good; throwing stuff all month would probably wear her and her trusty companion out. Companions, she mentally corrected herself, emphasizing the "s" as she glanced at Belignis's Pokéball. Despite the added weight to her belt, it was still a little difficult to remember that her little party recently gained a new member.

What were the other prizes, though? Quinn poked at an intricate, pretty little box that smelled nice and picked a seed from a small stack of its kind. Just what did that thing grow into? And there was a kind of a shell on a string that made little dingling noises when she picked it up. "Huh," she said as she leaned against the counter, dangling the contraption with one hand and tapping it continuously with the other.

She hadn't been there long when a loud, strangling noise erupted from behind her. Suddenly, a man appeared, snatching the Shell Bell from her hand and hastily removing the "Out to Lunch" sign that was pinned to the back of the booth.

"I can't believe I left these out!" he muttered furiously as he replaced everything that Quinn had meddled with. She gave him a short, questioning look before she examined the price signs for each of the prizes and began to count her tickets.

"...Twenty, twenty-one, twenty-two," she eventually declared, admittedly a bit slowly. Hrmph. Barely enough for a water, and she wasn't even thirsty. "What're those slips of paper?" she asked, pointing to said papers.

The man sighed. "Vouchers. They're free, and they get you free stuff at the end of the carnival."

Quinn's face lit up, and she grabbed the entire stack of vouchers.

"Only ONE!" the clerk bellowed, and she reluctantly put back all but one. His expression turned from rage to sourness as he began muttering again. "You people never buy anything..."

The man returned to his post, muttering, as Quinn eagerly stored the Voucher away for later. The clerk rested his roughly-shaven chin on one hand and watched her leave with irritated expression.

"Can't believe I'm still gonna help these nitwits," he muttered, tapping his fingers on his chin. Then a toothy grin stole across his lips. "Comes with the job, I guess."

Quinn received the Mysterious Voucher!

The unshaven man running the Prize Stand got slowly out of the booth, pulling out a sign from under the table. He placed it a bit in front of his stand, then took a small mallet and hammered the sign into the ground, facing away from the stand so that it could be clearly read.

BIG SALE, PRICES CUT 50%

The man adjusted all of the price tags on his items accordingly and returned to his stand, smirking as he waited for more shoppers.

Jake walked up the the prize booth. Holding his tickets he looked up at the sale. "Um...Can I have a miracle seed, and a mysterious voucher?" He said hoping the man running the booth didn't recognize him. Jake knew him, he worked at the PokeMart where Jake had stolen a few items.

"Yeah, sure thing, kid. That'll be 100 Tickets," the man said, accepting Jake's Tickets and putting them in the register.

The dirty, roughly-shaven man handed the kid his purchases without skipping a beat. The kid was giving him a strange look, but the salesman knew for certain that he'd never seen him before. Perhaps the kid was mistaking him for his twin brother who worked at the Pokemart? Of course, hardly anybody ever identified the two as even brothers, let alone the same person, as they both had very different ideas of what hygiene was. But, of course, his brother was utterly unrelated to his job, and the salesman quickly dismissed the thought.

"Get that weird look off your face and skedaddle, all right? Thanks for buying."

Jake received the Mysterious Voucher and Miracle Seed!

Finally satisfied with the long strips of Tickets she'd collected, Nicola visited the Prize Stand, eager to shop. She grinned as she noticed the sign indicating a sale, and her grin grew even wider when she realized that she could actually afford just about all of the items now. The Prize Stand man gave her a sarcastic look as she approached, suspecting that she might not buy anything, like her last visit. She smiled and listed off all of the merchandise she was after.

"I'd like to buy the Rose Incense, Leaf Blade (TM) and a Shell Bell," she rattled off, intent on getting each of the three items.

"That'll be 265 Tickets, if you can afford it," the shopkeeper replied, looking to believe that she couldn't.

Nicola, however, simply put the large pile of Tickets on the table, grinning as the man grudgingly accepted them and gave her her three items. Noticing that she didn't have enough room for any of the items, she quickly brought out her new Growlithe, Donut, and fed him three Rare Candies to make room.

Despite the fact that she really only earned around nine percent of the tickets she received, Quinn approached the Prize Stand, vaguely wondering is the Rare Candies were possible for human consumption. Pshaw, she thought, silly Quinn. I don't need to be any stronger. She gazed critically at Sentra. ...But he does. Taking out her tickets, which were bent into strange shapes from her pockets, she counted them as quickly as possible. Two hundred and thirty-seven? No, that wasn't right. Man, my counting skills suck, she chided herself briefly before sprinting to the Ticket Booth and back. One hundred and sixty-four. In an uncharacteristic act of preemption, she had asked the person at the counter to separate the tickets into piles of fifty, leaving the remaining fourteen loose.

Witnessing the scientifically-minded girl from the Machine room dump a large stack of tickets onto the booth table, Quinn felt just a slight bit less significant. She probably should have participated in the games more.

“I'd like five Rare Candies,” she told the vendor, setting down two stacks of tickets. After a slight pause, she took back one of the stacks, realizing that it was the pile of fourteen, some pocket lint and her Mysterious Voucher instead of the intended fifty. She replaced the correct amount of tickets and watched the man at the counter rifle through them with a bitter expression. Luckily, one hundred tickets were far less than the two-hundred and sixty-five that the previous girl had handed him.

When she got her Rare Candies, Quinn unceremoniously plonked them in front of her Abra. “Eat up, Sentra,” she said, grinning. “You look kinda sick. This carnival thing's been wearing you out.”

Sentra blanched in reply. He stared at the candies. He stared at his stomach. Physics simply wouldn't allow him to eat them all without being violently ill. <Perhaps I should take these in smaller doses...> he trailed off, remembering that Quinn couldn't understand Pokémon. With a sigh, he unwrapped one of them and began to eat.

Meanwhile, Quinn had turned her attention back to her tickets. “Sixty-four left,” she muttered, staring at the papers clenched in her hand. This was a problem. She didn't really want anything else, and she wholly doubted that she would be back later. On the other hand, it would be a waste of tickets. She faced the vendor again, who was staring back with a relatively bored look. “Could you give these to the next customer?” Quinn asked quietly, handing over her remaining tickets. “I won't be needing them.” She then picked up her Abra and the five empty wrappers surrounding him and wondered if there was a  Pokémon Center on the carnival grounds. He didn't look so good...

The salesman at the counter slid the five Rare Candies across the counter to Quinn, putting her 100 Tickets into the register and shutting it easily. He was about to give Quinn his traditional snarky remark when she surprised him and handed over her last 64 Tickets, asking that they be given to the next customer. Her charity surprised him; the man hadn't been expecting a giving soul among the usual Carnival rabble. As she walked away, he grinned in spite of himself. Carnival Master Nostalagi had wished that all of her customers were that charitable. The man slipped the Tickets into his shirt pocket, ready to give them to the next customer that came to shop. Crossing his arms, he put his lopsided grin back on his face and waited.

Quinn gained 5 Rare Candies!

Sentra ate all 5 Rare Candies! He gained 5 Levels and subsequently 50 Happiness! Yay!

And the next shopper gets 64 Tickets! (Now 139 because of the donated 75 Tickets from Twilli for the yellow switch.)

[All updated, Nicola! You were in need of a new rare candy anyway, so I updated that aswell. :3]
The man grunted at Nicola. "Whatever." He said simply. He took her tickets angrily and grabbed a shell bell, the TM leaf blade, and the rose incense and handed them to her as Nicola fed 3 rare candies to her new pokemon Donut.

-----
Jake walked up to the carnival booth. Seeing as it was almost over Jake pulled out his forty tickets. "Can I get two rare candies?" Jake asked the man. (And I'm supposed to get my June rare candy, so can that be three? :3)

"Yeah, sure, coming right up," the man drawled at first.

He grabbed the Rare Candies and put them on the table, but paused before collecting Jake's Tickets. Hesitating for a long while, the shopkeeper then reluctantly pulled the large pile of Tickets out of his shirt pocket.

"You might wanna reconsider what you're ordering, though, since the last people here wanted me to give the next person who shopped here these. It's a big total of 139 Tickets. Still want those Rare Candies?"

((Updated your monthly Rare Candy, though, and if you don't respond before I stop the Carnival, I'll just give you the two Rare Candies you asked for.))

"All right, fine," the man said, taking the large pile of Tickets and putting it back in his shirt pocket. "Here you go then."

Jake received 2 Rare Candies!

These have been added to your Bio.

((Sorry, you were too late. I added the 139 Tickets back to Quinn.))
